🌟 Highlight Events

🎶 AmeriServ Flood City Music Festival (Fri–Sat @ Peoples Natural Gas Park) Our 2-day, 3-stage downtown music festival is back with national and regional acts, food & craft vendors, and nonstop jams. Gates open at noon Friday (headliners each night). Past performers have included Bruce Hornsby, Trombone Shorty, Los Lobos & more – don’t miss Johnstown’s biggest summer party!

🎨 Uptown Chalk the Block (Fri–Sun @ Somerset) - Western PA’s oldest street painting festival returns to Uptown Somerset with 20+ pro chalk artists, youth chalk competitions, live music, art demos, free kids’ activities, a 5K run, food and more. Stroll the streets to watch murals come to life on the sidewalks!

🕺 Downtown Shutdown (Fri 8pm @ Ebensburg High St) - Free outdoor street concert in downtown Ebensburg. A live band sets up at High & Center under the streetlights; bring your lawn chairs, blankets, coolers and enjoy a block-party vibe with friends. (Part of Ebensburg’s Homecoming weekend - see below!)

🏘️ Ebensburg Homecoming (Sat, all day @ Downtown Ebensburg) - Community celebration welcoming everyone home to Ebensburg! Expect town-wide yard sales, a 5K/duathlon, kids’ fishing derby, farmer’s market, free tennis lessons, book sale, craft vendors, food and live music. Festivities run 8am–10pm Saturday, capped off by live music from the METRO Band 7–10pm at Lake Rowena.

🌻 Smithmyer’s Sunflower Festival (Sat 12–5pm @ Smithmyer’s Farm, Patton) - Take a country drive to this blooming sunflower field festival featuring 70+ local vendors, food trucks, live music and of course acres of sunflowers. $10 admission (kids 5 and under free) lets you wander the fields and enjoy a perfect summer afternoon.

🛍️ SundayMarket @ Cambria City (Sun 9am–3pm @ Piazza Maria, Cambria City) - A new open-air market tradition in the heart of Cambria City! Shop local artisan and farm vendors, enjoy food trucks and live music, and hang out with family and friends in this historic neighborhood. Free admission. Come spend a relaxing Sunday morning!

📅 Thursday (7/24) Events

1:00 PM – Animal Visits! (Trinity Farms Goats) @ Cambria County Library lawn. Kids and adults can meet and pet friendly goats from Trinity Farms Center for Healing. (Free family event, part of SummerQuest series. Sign up at https://cclsys.beanstack.org/reader365)

5:30 PM – Music on the Patio: Jeff Webb @ Cambria County Library. Chill out to live acoustic music on the patio with local favorite Jeff Webb. Free snacks provided; come early at 5pm for a mini art project in the garden. (Free, all ages.)

5:30 PM – ArtHouse Film Club – Dr. Strangelove (1964) @ Cambria County Library, Community Room (248 Main St). Join fellow film lovers for a free screening of Stanley Kubrick’s classic Cold War satire. Stick around for post-film discussion. (Free, all ages.)

6:30 PM – Summer Floral Design Class @ Rizzo’s of Windber. Get creative with Fleurish florists in a hands-on flower arranging workshop. Tickets include all materials, hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar. Only 30 spots!

7:00 PM – Sandyvale Summer Concert Series @ Sandyvale Memorial Gardens. Bring a lawn chair and relax under the trees for a free outdoor concert in the park. Family-friendly tunes in a beautiful garden setting. (Weather permitting.)

7:00 PM – Johnstown Mill Rats Baseball @ Sargent’s Stadium (Point Stadium). Cheer on our Mill Rats as they take on the Jackson Rockabillys in Prospect League action. Affordable family fun – $6–$9 tickets and the last home stand of July!

8:00 PM – “Night Zero” Flood City Pre-Party @ Peoples Natural Gas Park. Start the music festival early with Noodly, Nester & Gator – a funky jam side-project featuring members of Natalie Brooke’s band and Pigeons Playing Ping Pong. Free admission for this Thursday night pre-festival show (8:00–10:30pm).

8:30 AM – Supported Stretch & Balance Yoga @ Bottle Works (Cambria City). Wake up with gentle chair-assisted yoga for flexibility and balance. All ages/levels welcome. (Donation-based; bring water.)

9:00 AM – Johnstown Farmers Market @ Central Park, Downtown. Shop fresh produce, baked goods, and crafts from local farmers & vendors. Market open 9am–2pm.

10:30 AM – Outdoor DiscoverE @ Prince Gallitzin State Park. A kids’ nature adventure – ages 4–12 will explore the park with rangers, learn about wildlife habitats, and maybe get their feet wet! (Free program; meet at park office.)

11:00 AM – Pop-Up in the Plaza @ Boxed Up Expressions (Westwood Plaza, 10 Entrance Dr). Shop small and soak up the sunshine at this fun mini vendor market! Enjoy handmade charm from Scarlet’s Bracelets, floral finds from Grace & Bloom, boutique must-haves from Bella Mia, and sip Claire’s Fresh Squeezed Lemonade while you browse. (Free, 11am–2pm)

5:00 PM – Jazz Along the River @ St. Mary’s Pavilion (Cambria City). Sway to live New Orleans-style jazz with Cajun Norm & The Foundry at this free monthly music series. Food and drinks available. (5–9pm, all ages.)

7:00 PM – Johnstown Mill Rats Baseball @ Sargent’s Stadium. Another chance to catch the Mill Rats vs. Jackson Rockabillys – Friday Night Lights edition! First pitch 7:00pm. (Giveaways and family activities at the ballpark.)

7:00 AM – Chernisky Classic 5K/10K @ Ghost Town Trail, Ebensburg. Lace up for a charity run/walk on the trail – chip-timed 5k or 10k options benefiting local parks. Race starts early to beat the heat. Same-day registration 6am at Ebensburg Trailhead.

9:00 AM – Ebensburg Farmer’s Market @ Penn Eben Park. Browse homegrown produce, baked treats and more from northern Cambria farmers. Market runs 9am–12pm in the park.

10:00 AM – “A Very Bluey Party” @ Highland Community Library. Kids can meet their favorite blue heeler pup! Bluey-themed storytime, games, crafts and snacks. Wear your PJs or party outfits. (Free, recommended for ages 2–7.)

10:00 AM – Brunch at 814 Bites & Brews @ 814 Lanes & Games (Richland). Start Saturday with waffle flights, mimosa flights, and iced coffee flights. This trendy new brunch spot inside the bowling alley serves 10am–2pm every Saturday.

11:00 AM – Pop-Up in the Plaza @ Boxed Up Expressions (Westwood Plaza). Shop small at this mini vendor fair in front of Boxed Up Expressions bakery/gift shop. Enjoy signature mini cake bites, local artisan pop-ups (Scarlet’s bracelets, Grace & Bloom flowers, etc.), plus Jackie’s Groovy Cheese Truck serving lunch.

11:00 AM – Bags & Brews Cornhole Tournament @ 814 Lanes & Games. Grab a partner for an indoor cornhole tourney! $30/person entry includes a lunch buffet. Beer specials, prizes for winners, and a great way to spend an afternoon. (Registration at 10:30am.)

6:30 PM – Russ Wilburn Live @ Tap 814 Speakeasy. Wind down Saturday with live country-rock tunes by Russ Wilburn at the cozy Tap 814 speakeasy (no cover). Music starts at 6:30pm – great cocktails and vibes.

7:30 PM – Beach Party Boys (Tribute Concert) @ Arcadia Theater, Windber. Catch the ultimate Beach Boys tribute show – a high-energy trip to California’s surf sound. Show at 7:30pm (doors 6:30). $42–$50 tickets.

10:00 AM – Sunday Brunch with Bob Bretz @ Westwood Bar & Grill. Live piano music brunch with local legend Bob Bretz playing classics while you dine. Brunch menu + Bloody Marys start at 10am (music until 1pm). Seats fill fast for this bi-weekly treat!

11:00 AM – Flower Festival @ Dickert Farms (Mineral Point). A family-friendly flower-themed fair with local crafters, produce, kids’ activities and more in the countryside. 11am–3pm at Dickert Farms.

5:00 PM – Roxbury Bandshell Summer Concert @ Roxbury Park. Cap off the weekend with a free concert at the historic 1939 bandshell. This week’s performers: The Laurel Brass (big band classics). Music 5–7pm – bring a blanket or lawn chair and enjoy an evening in the park.

💎 Hidden Gem of the Week

Sunrise You-Pick & Design at Floral Fields Farm – This charming flower farm in Portage is hosting its first-ever sunrise market on Saturday, and it’s the definition of a hidden gem! For just $5 a carload, you get a morning of local goodness: browse handmade crafts and farm products, enjoy light refreshments and floral design instruction, and stroll through rows of blooming flowers. As the sun rises, grab some clippers (provided) and pick yourself a gorgeous bouquet – the wildflower fields and golden hour views are unreal. If you’re looking for a relaxing, wholesome way to start your Saturday, head out to Floral Fields (1146 Munster Rd) from 9–11am and support this lovely local farm. Don’t forget a mason jar or bucket for your blooms! 🌅🌼
