Johnstown has a packed weekend ahead, with the grand reopening of Central Park, the return of the Slavic Festival, live music, car shows, fall activities, and plenty happening across the area from Thursday through Sunday. Whether you’re looking for something family-friendly, a night out, or just an excuse to get out of the house, there’s a lot to choose from this week.

4:00 PM – Weakland Farms Corn Maze (Weakland Farms, Portage) – Kick off fall with a trip through the corn maze. Admission is $10.

8:00 AM – Cruise-in & Leafers Only Fun Run (Chickaree Ridge Runners, 110 Shepard St., Johnstown) – Bring out the hot rods and watch vintage snowmobile “leafers” take on the grass drag strip, with food available later in the day.

10:00 AM – Fast & Furriest Car Show (800 Georgian Place, Somerset) – Car show benefiting the Humane Society of Somerset County with music, food, a 50/50, basket auction, and awards. Pets welcome.

10:00 AM – New Germany Festival of Arts and Crafts (New Germany Grove Hall, Summerhill) – Annual festival featuring homemade arts and crafts, food, and live entertainment. Free.

12:00 PM – Central Celebration (Central Park, Downtown Johnstown) – Celebrate the grand opening of the rebuilt Central Park with local vendors, live performances, and family activities. Free.

12:00 PM – Read and Create Arts Festival (Central Park, Downtown Johnstown) – Meet writers, illustrators, printers, and other creatives during this free downtown arts festival.

12:00 PM – West Hills Regional Fire Department 4th Annual Car Show (Westwood Plaza, 1918 Minno Dr., Johnstown) – Classic and custom cars, music, food and drinks, a 50/50 raffle, trophies, and family-friendly fun.

1:00 PM – Weakland Farms Corn Maze (Weakland Farms, Portage) – Take on the corn maze for a fun fall outing. Admission is $10.

1:00 PM – Us Four at Glades Pike Winery (Glades Pike Winery) – Us Four returns for an afternoon of live music under the gazebo.

2:30 PM – Youth Cookie Decorating Class (Lambcakes, 110 Franklin St., Johnstown) – Kids can decorate a fall-themed set of sugar cookies with guidance from Lambcakes. $15 per person, supplies included.

5:00 PM – Soup, Sip & Stroll Fall Crawl (Downtown Johnstown) – Stroll through downtown businesses while sampling soups and fall cocktails from participating merchants. Tickets are $23.

6:00 PM – Spring Break at Windber Slovak Club (Slovak Educational Club, Windber) – Spring Break brings live music to the Windber Slovak Club Saturday night.

7:30 PM – The Gambler Returns: The Music of Kenny Rogers (Arcadia Theater, Windber) – A live tribute celebrating the music and hits of Kenny Rogers. Tickets are $44–$52.

8:00 PM – Krazy Kat Daddies at Windber VFW (Windber VFW Post 4795) – Krazy Kat Daddies return with a mix of classic rock, oldies, and country.

8:30 PM – Night Ride (Mountain Ridge ATV Park, 517 Boone Rd., Central City) – Approximately two-hour night ride for 4x4 ATVs, with headlights required. Cost is $10 with a day pass or $15 without.

9:00 PM – Ground Zero at Glades Pike Taverne (Glades Pike Taverne, Somerset) – Ground Zero takes the stage with rock music from the '80s and beyond.

10:00 AM – South Fork Fire Department Annual “Last Blast II” Car Show (Ehrenfeld Park, South Fork) – Family-friendly car show featuring classic cars, trucks, imports, rat rods, motorcycles, a basket raffle, food, participant voting, and 35 trophies.

1:00 PM – Steelers Tailgate Party at Forbes Trail Brewing (Forbes Trail Brewing) – Watch the Steelers with giveaways between quarters, drink specials, Bloody Marys, and food from Cousins Maine Lobster.

3:00 PM – FUSE at Jim & Jimmies (Jim & Jimmies, Tire Hill) – FUSE performs live for a Sunday afternoon show.

4:00 PM – Johnstown Fashion Week Show (Johnstown Galleria) – Johnstown Fashion Week continues with its Sunday show. Tickets are $25.

7:00 PM – An Evening With Kenny G (Pasquerilla Performing Arts Center) – Grammy Award-winning saxophonist Kenny G brings his five-decade catalog to Johnstown. Tickets are $79–$161.

On September 22, 1919, Johnstown steelworkers joined a nationwide strike demanding union recognition, higher wages and shorter working hours. Nearly 12,000 local workers had organized by the eve of the strike, and virtually the entire local steel workforce walked out. Within days, about 2,000 area coal miners employed by a Cambria Steel subsidiary joined them.
