Johnstown, we’ve got a packed weekend ahead—from Sandyvale wine tastings and Mountain Craft Days to car cruises, live music, and family fun. As Friday marks 25 years since September 11, our community will also gather to remember and honor through Flight 93 observances, Windber’s Salute to Heroes, and Saturday’s stair climb. Here’s your guide to what’s happening around town and a short drive away.

Alex Bond delivered when it mattered most in Richland’s 21–16 win over Bishop Guilfoyle. He recorded 7 solo tackles, 6 assists, and a tackle for loss before sealing the victory with a clutch interception.

Flight 93 National Memorial marks the 25th anniversary of September 11 with a morning observance on Friday, 8:30–10:30 AM, and an afternoon ceremony from 1–2:30 PM. Both are free and open to the public; arrive early for parking and shuttle transportation.

On Saturday, 7:30–9 PM, forty candle lanterns will honor the passengers and crew during the Luminaria Ceremony, followed by the Tower of Light tribute until midnight.

Honor first responders during the 25th-anniversary weekend of September 11. Take on 2,200 steps—the equivalent of 110 stories—or choose a shorter climb or walk around the concourse. Climbing begins at 8:30 AM, with proceeds supporting the Bold Athletics First Responder Scholarship Fund.

Spend Saturday afternoon enjoying Pennsylvania wine and spirits tastings, food, craft vendors, and live music at Sandyvale. General admission is listed at $25–$35. Ages 21+; photo ID required.

1:00 PM - Flight 93 Afternoon Ceremony - Flight 93 National Memorial - Shanksville area - Honor the passengers and crew with speakers, music, and a public wreath-laying ceremony at the Wall of Names. The ceremony runs until 2:30 PM and is free to attend.

5:00 PM - The Cooking Contractor - Forbes Trail Brewing - Grab dinner from The Cooking Contractor food truck and enjoy a cold beer. Food served from 5–8 PM.

6:00 PM - Veterans & First Responders Tailgate / Salute to Heroes - Berwind Pavilion / Windber Stadium - Windber - Windber veterans and first responders are invited to a 6 PM tailgate picnic, followed by the Salute to Heroes program at 6:30 PM. Windber takes on Tussey Mountain at 7 PM.

6:00 PM - LIVE on the Patio: Matthew Wagner! - The Backroom Saloon - Ebensburg - Matthew Wagner plays from 6–8 PM for the final patio performance of the season.

10:00 AM - Cambria County Arts & Heritage Festival - Duman Lake County Park - Ebensburg - Living history, reenactments, vendors, train rides, and children’s activities. That Oldees Band performs from 3–6 PM. Free admission; the festival continues Sunday.

10:00 AM - Art Attack - Community Arts Center of Cambria County - Johnstown - A free day of arts and crafts for children and teens ages 17 and younger. Activities run until 4 PM at 1217 Menoher Boulevard.

10:00 AM - 17th Annual Johnstown Super Cruise - Greater Johnstown Christian Fellowship Church, Elton Road - Johnstown - Check out the annual car cruise from 10 AM–3 PM. Rain date: September 19.

6:00 PM - RVFC Cash Bash - Riverside Volunteer Fire Company - An evening of food and cash drawings, with $2,000 in cash prizes and winners drawn every 15 minutes. Tickets are $20 per person and include food and drinks. Doors open at 5 PM.

6:00 PM - Dueling Piano Fundraiser - Dunlo Fire Hall, 180 Pitcairn Avenue - Dunlo - Doors open at 6 PM for a dueling piano show benefiting Monument Park Squad/Post 573. 6:30 PM - The Story Tour - Windber Area School District - Windber - An evening of personal stories, Christian music from Allan Scott Band, and ministry. Runs until 9:30 PM. General admission is $14 in advance or $18 at the door.

7:00 PM - The Taming of the Shrew - VOMA’s Gallery - Johnstown - The Rustic Mechanicals bring their high-energy production of Shakespeare’s comedy to Johnstown, presented by TheatreMatters. Runs until 9 PM. All tickets $20; limited advance tickets available.

7:30 PM - BIKES ONLY Night Ride - Mountain Ridge ATV Park - Central City - Dirt-bike night ride until 9:30 PM for C Class riders or higher. Headlights required; no passengers. Sign up at 6:30 PM for a bike check; limited to the first 20 riders. $10 with a day pass or $15 without.
