The unofficial start of summer is here, and the Johnstown area is rolling into the weekend with festivals, live music, family activities, classic cars, wellness events, and plenty of ways to get out and explore. From historic warbirds at the airport and downtown PolkaFest celebrations to reptile expos, concerts, bingo nights, and local food events, there’s something happening in every direction this weekend.

On May 31, 1889, the South Fork Dam failed after days of heavy rain, sending floodwaters through the Conemaugh Valley and into Johnstown.

This weekend marks 137 years since the Johnstown Flood, one of the most significant events in the city’s history.
