Memorial Day weekend is packed across the Johnstown area with downtown tastings, live music, outdoor adventures, family activities, cruise-ins, and plenty of ways to kick off summer. Whether you're heading to Taste & Tour downtown, catching live bands around town, floating the Conemaugh, or relaxing at a Sunday market, there’s something happening all weekend long.

Fifteen years ago this week, on May 23, 2011, a naming and groundbreaking ceremony was held for what would become Peoples Natural Gas Park in downtown Johnstown.

Since opening in 2012, the park has become home to events like the AmeriServ Flood City Music Festival, summer concerts, and the Path of the Flood Historic Races.

The Johnstown Mill Rats open their home schedule with a two-game set against the Chillicothe Paints next week. It should be a fun start to the summer and a great chance to welcome baseball back to Sargent’s Stadium at the Point in Johnstown.
