Johnstown Insider – Weekend Events July 9-12, 2026

This weekend has a little bit of everything around Johnstown — live music, local festivals, family fun, cruise-ins, workshops, and a few unique events you do not see every week. From the Jackson Township Heritage Festival and Rock 4 Child Hunger at Peoples Natural Gas Park to emo night on the river at Coal Tubin’, there are plenty of ways to get out, support local causes, and make the most of a July weekend.

On July 10, 1902, tragedy struck beneath the Westmont hillside when an explosion tore through Johnstown’s Rolling Mill Mine. The disaster claimed 112 lives, many of them immigrant miners whose work helped fuel the city’s steel industry.

Though often overshadowed by Johnstown’s floods, the explosion remains one of the deadliest mining disasters in Pennsylvania history and a major chapter in Johnstown’s industrial past.
